Reiki
is hands-on energy healing based on ancient Tibetan healing methods
that have been synthesized and simplified. Once the student has been
given an attunement the student can then, by
simply placing his hands on himself or someone else, channel healing
energy where it is needed. "Channel" sounds complicated, but
in this case is not. Think of a piece of wire that connects a light
bulb to the on/off switch. You flip the switch and the light goes on.
The wire does nothing, it "channels" the electricity. Giving
Reiki is this simple.
Reiki
is actually 2 Japanese words. "Rei", meaning Universal, and
"Ki" meaning energy or life-force. So Reiki literally means
and is, Universal Energy. The healing energy is all around us and is
everywhere.
Reiki
does not require the person giving, or the person receiving Reiki to
actively understand what Reiki is, or where it comes from. All that
is required is that both have an open mind to accept that there are
things in our Universe that work without our understanding. How many
of us understand how a TV, a computer or the Internet works? Yet we
all use them, knowing they work without us knowing how they work.
There
are 3 levels of Reiki:
Reiki
1 - is the ability to give hands-on Reiki, to yourself or anyone next
to you..
Reiki 2 - is the ability to send Reiki energy over distance, both geographic
and time.
Reiki 3 - is the Master/teacher level where the student is taught how
to give attunements and teach Reiki to others.
Everyone
has the ability, at least in some minor way, to do hands-on energy healing.
How often do children run to Mommy for them to be "hugged and kissed
better". And all the mother does is hold and comforts the child.
This is hands-on energy healing at its simplest. By being connected
through an attunement to the abundant Universal Energy, i.e., Reiki,
that is all around us, we are strengthening that ability so that the
energy will flow through us powerfully enough, yet very gently, to help
heal.
Reiki
works on the physical, emotional and spiritual levels. Again, what does
this mean?
Physical:
This is the easiest one to explain and to experience. A simple example
that we have seen numerous times is if someone has slipped and badly
sprained their ankle, and the injured person knows they will be walking
with a limp for several hours or days. 5 Minutes of hands-on Reiki and
the injured ankle no longer hurts. On a more serious level, Reiki as
an adjunct to major surgery can be wonderfully beneficial. A full Reiki
treatment before surgery helps the patient prepare for surgery so that
during the surgery, possible complications may be avoided. Treatments
after the surgery rapidly speed up the healing and convalescent stages,
so that patients are leading their normal activities much sooner than
anticipated. Note: We never recommend Reiki as an alternative to surgery.
We do stress that Reiki is a great and wonderful compliment to traditional
medical procedures.
Emotional
and psychological: This is not as easy to see immediate results the
way we do with minor physical ills. Emotional problems are usually deep-seated
and go back to events that happened many years earlier. But, as with
physical problems, Reiki energy clears blockages and smooths energy
paths so that emotional and psychological problems and illnesses can
be relieved. Reiki can also bring insight and enable people being treated
to perceive solutions to problems that have been troubling and puzzling
them.
Spiritual:
A lot of the comments above regarding emotions apply to the spiritual
level, as obviously, these two areas, although very different, are closely
linked.
We
humans are made up of both physical matter and energy. Most illnesses
occur when the energy paths within our bodies are blocked and the energy
is not flowing smoothly, or alternatively, the energy is moving too
fast within us. When using Reiki energy we balance and harmonize the
energy within us, gently clearing blockages. Reiki promotes
healing and well being. For some examples of how Reiki can
help, see the comments from our students.
Reiki
can NEVER be harmful. It cannot cause illness. When giving Reiki, illnesses
can NEVER pass from the practitioner to the patient or vice-versa.
With some of the other energy healing modalities, the practitioner uses
their personal energy to help the patient and can inadvertently pass
on to the patient some illness, disease or misalignment of energy. With
Reiki, this can never happen, since the practitioner is simply a conduit
passing on the gentle beneficial Reiki energy. And since the energy
flow is strictly a one-way flow, the practitioner can never pick up
any illness or disease from the patient.
Reiki
is easy to learn and even easier to use. Unlike other energy healing
and alternate healing modalities, it does not require years of study.
A Reiki 1 class comprising attunements and a few hours of tuition are
all that is needed. It is a class that the student cannot fail. As we
say "You cannot fail Reiki, you can only fail to use it."
Once you have been given the attunement to connect to the Reiki energy,
and have been told how to use the beneficial Reiki energy, you can only
fail if you do not use it. A very simple concept!
